Dig a hole 20cms larger in circumference than the root ball and then loosen the earth at the base. Place the tree in the hole so that the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding earth. |

Place two poles, approximately 60cms deep, against the root ball or between the roots. |

Refill the hole with a mixture of soil and a soil conditioner such as peat. Press the soil down firmly around the roots… |

… and use the surplus soil to create a small bank around the tree to contain the water. Fill this space with water and continue to water weekly for at least twenty times (particularly from March onwards). |
